Self-Defense for Seniors

CRIME DOESN’T CHECK YOUR AGE BEFORE IT APPROACHES. Every day, older adults encounter situations that can quickly turn threatening—from aggressive strangers and robbery attempts to unwanted grabs, physical confrontations, and dangerous encounters in parking lots, stores, neighborhoods, and even around their own homes. In 2024, Americans experienced an estimated 6.67 million nonfatal violent victimizations, including robbery and assault, according to the U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics. Older adults are also vulnerable to abuse, neglect, and exploitation, with the National Institute on Aging reporting that hundreds of thousands of adults age 60 and older experience these forms of mistreatment each year. These aren't just statistics—they represent real people whose lives can change in seconds.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE BIGGER, STRONGER, OR YOUNGER TO DEFEND YOURSELF. Our Self-Defense for Seniors program is built specifically for adults 55+ and focuses on practical skills that work with your abilities—not against them. You'll learn how to recognize danger before it escalates, use your voice and body position to establish boundaries, maintain distance, protect yourself from common grabs and attacks, recover from unexpected situations, and create an opportunity to escape. Classes are paced appropriately and emphasize simple, repeatable responses rather than athleticism or complicated martial arts techniques.

DON'T WAIT UNTIL YOU NEED SELF-DEFENSE TO WISH YOU HAD TRAINED. Build awareness. Build confidence. Learn practical skills. Most importantly, learn how to respond when seconds matter. Your age should never be a reason to surrender your safety. Train smart. Stay capable. Stay independent.
