John Montalbano

John is not only the owner of Invictus Krav Maga, but is also the California State Director for the International Krav Maga Federation (IKMF). John has been training in Krav Maga since 2012. Based on his commitment to excellence and desire to empower others, John was invited to enroll in the instructor program in 2017 and received his IKMF Civilian Instructor certification in 2018 and his KIDS Instructor certification in 2021. In 2022, John was selected by the IKMF to train in the STAY AWAY! Women's Self-Defense Instructor course. John is 1 of only 3 instructors certified in the entire state of California to teach this program. Based on his extensive training with Women, Kids and combat fighting, John is recognized as a "Lead Instructor" by the International Krav Maga Federation, and is presently one of only two individuals west of the Mississippi to hold this title.

In addition to Krav Maga, John continues to actively train in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai and Kali (the Filipino art of Stick/Knife Fighting). John is  trained in numerous firearms and is an NRA Certified Pistol Instructor.

Training in these different fighting styles allows John to gain a deeper understanding of what works and what doesn't, especially when applied to the "streets" vs. the "ring". This is a vital skill that John brings to his students. The sad truth is, statistically speaking, no one is coming to save you in your time of need. Even if you or someone else is able to call 911, chances are the altercation will be over by the time police arrive. John understands this and is committed to provide the highest level of training, while maintaining a safe and productive environment.

John's passion to teach is second to none. He has a deep desire to share his wisdom and experiences so that his students (Children, as well as adults) "may walk in peace."

John is available for private lessons, corporate seminars and group lessons for various organizations (ie sororities, women's groups, church groups, etc). John can be reached at
