Description

If confronted with a medical emergency situation, would you know how to respond? Are you able to recognize a bleeding emergency? Would you know who to call and how to communicate with emergency professionals (dispatchers, EMT's, etc)? The course will include:

  • Communication basics: communicating with others at the scene as well as communicating with emergency professionals.
  • Safety in emergency situations: Keeping yourself safe in an emergency; helping others to safety; violent situations.
  • Caring for a person with life-threatening blood loss injury: Using pressure to stop bleeding; applying direct pressure; using a tourniquet; after the bleeding stops.
  • Subject Matter to be discussed: Burns; the different forms of shock; fractures; knife wounds; gunshot wounds.
